No -that is ia retro Phase I paint scheme. Black nose and red mouth (L0L) Amtrak has currently painted several P42 locomoitves in legacy or Amtrak Heritage schemes. They are interesting and in some cases pretty sharp!
They up and jinxed that locomotive. LOL I don't like the black hood. And don't tell me that's to reduce the glare. I drove black hearses and limousines for a living and I can assure you the glare can be blinding. And... I wasted my adult life. I have no love for that alleged profession. As far as I'm concerned "Black" and "Death" are synonymous. After wearing black pretty much all my adult life I don't want any part of it. Unless it is...an AT&SF Zebra Striped locomotive or a 4-8-4 Northern...grin! Got's to have some fun...right?
We used to call the phase I Amtrak paint scheme the "Pointless Arrow". You know, looking at that red and blue design on the side.
Bremner, thanks for that photo, far more beautiful than most Amtrak locos. Now just put some two-tone gray Lark cars behind those SP units....mmmmm.
Nothing beats a good F-Unit... Wanna' rephrase that? I believe the word you were searching for was "any".
Actually, I find the P42 in the Phase IV paint scheme is actually somewhat attractive. But, aside from Phase IV, every other Amtrak paint scheme I think is pretty ugly. The new Phase V is terrible.
