The final NP unit. Onto the Great Northern. Also, the Santa Fe unit that you guys speak of, I will definitely do, it will just be one of the last units.
It would be awesome for these fallen flag schemes to be back. I like them all, but the GN Empire Builder, NP NCL and Canoe and ATSF pinstripe versions were excellent.
For the black and yellow Frisco scheme, I think that you might want to consider a GP7 as your inspiration rather than an F unit. Charlie
It's interesting how good some of those older schemes look on modern units, the guys who came up with them all those years ago knew what they were doing.
What was the mickname for the first Burlington diesel freight scheme? "Blackbird" or something odd like that?
The Fort Worth & Denver Unit The Colorado & Southern Unit All that are left are two special request units.
The Santa Fe "Cat Whiskers" Unit Also, on some screens, the blue on the ATSF units may appear as black. The Final Unit, being the Frisco Freight scheme (as worn by the GP7s).
Bill That is great w/ the red stripes separating the blue & yellow like on Santa Fe's originals. And the whiskers to boot! Too bad you couldn't get the 9352 to be lit. But then the FTs only had 3 #s there. None of the TrainBoard blues are showing here on this reply.
Great work on doing all of these units! I'd really like to do some of these in N Scale especially the NP Canoe scheme. What would be neat if MRL took up the NP schemes for heritage units since so much of the MRL is ex-NP.
Thanks guys! Once again, I am glad to see you all like them. And that would be neat to see some of these in model form.
The cat's whiskers looks great. A couple more Santa Fe schemes are the zebra stripes with billboard Cooper Black 'Santa Fe' and the red warbonnet in the original passenger scheme with the small black 'Santa Fe' in Railroad Roman. There was also a scheme into which several FT's were painted that was solid blue with only a yellow cigar band nose herald but Santa Fe themselves didn't like that one and they didn't last long. There are almost enough paint schemes for BNSF to repaint the whole SD70Ace fleet, though if they did do it for real I'd prefer at least some of the Santa Fe units to be GE's because they get more use in old Santa Fe territory on the Transcon than the EMD's.
I think the whole reason, I used SD70ACes is that I tend to prefer them over GEs. Howevernow that you said that (and seeing as that is pretty true), I suppose some of them could be adapted for ES44ACs as well.
Very nice designs! Feel free to cross post them to my "Fantasy / Heritage' thread in the N-Scale forum or post a link back to here. http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine...-Schemes-Done-or-Dreamed-Of&highlight=fantasy
