    Bridge Pics
The following images are of an HO scale arch bridge I designed and constructed back in the mid 90's. It's not necessairily prototypical but it was never meant to be.

Unfortunately, it was never entirely finished because the layout I had at the time was torn down shortly after it was built.

Other than being a little dusty from 15 years of storage, I think it faired the test of time rather well. When it was originally constructed, I tested it with approximately 5 pounds of weight, placed at the center of the 36" span.

I still have the plans I made for it's construction but will have to scan them when I have time.

BTW: I'm sorry about the generally poor quality of the images but the battery was dead on my Nikon so I had to use another camera and the lighting was horrible. I touched them up in Photoshop but they could be a lot better.

This is how the bridge would have looked if it had been completed. The plans were originally created using a very old command line (Dos) version of CadRail. Note: The image is not to scale.

In the future, I plan to build another (newer) version of this bridge, only this time it will have a true curved arch that will be achieved by laminating thin strips of wood together.

That's a nice looking model. It's cool that you saved it.

Intact after fifteen years is great news. My luck would be a small pile of splinters... :tb-sad:

I'm digging it. Very sturdy design, and all those years of storage certainly proves it. Excellent!
