Can someone advise me? I have acquired a Pemco C&O Mountain. It is the tender driven model, but is, I believe, the basis for iHC's Mountains. It came with a totally bogus number, which I will change, but need to know if this is a J1 or J2. It does have the flying pumps on the smokebox.
    Thank you.

    I have decided this is a J-2.

IHC/MEHANO bought the tooling for the PEMCO
(Precision Engineered Models COmpany) line of model trains

. The Mogul,Mountain, and GG-1, are the basis of the present IHC marketted offerings in North America.
They were all decent performers, but they decided to switch the mechanisms in the
steamers from the tender. That did nothing for the performance, but may have made sales
    easier over here.
I don't know if IHC markets PEMCO's DEs or not,
as I don't use them. I know that unlike the, steam power, their DEs did not have a favorable rating by users.
    Good-Luck PJB
