Wow!!! Just saw that MTL is going to start offering Runner-Packs of 4 rollingstock on a monthly basis. Cool!!! How long did we Z scalers beg them to do this for us? 1, 2, 3, more years??? Finally!!! Oh, and the first release will be 4 differently numbered yellow Railbox 50' boxcars!!!! Even better. I for one have been wondering why MTL has yet to re-release the Railbox in their newly tooled 50' bocxcars!!!! Cool!!! What gets me is why are they doing it now????? Anyone curious????? I mean AZL is about to release their runner-packs of boxcars, centerflow covered hoppers and the autoracks all in runner-packs of 4. Oh, and one of the first releases of the boxcars will be 4 yellow TTX (Railbox) paintschemes!!!! Oh My Gosh!!!! Something Fishy Going On Here!!!! I'll say no more!!!! Congratulations MTL!!!!!! Well, I will be pre-ordering the Railbox cars. There were some 5 car sets on ebay, but they were commanding $150 for the set and they had roofwalks. These 4 car sets will be a better choice car for this scheme, and are listing $84, so are a much better deal.
Fishy ? No. Customers !!! They make, we buy. but they don't make them fast enough (or enough variation). They're getting it now so roll up the bank account 'cause it's Z time. We are going to have some LONG trains at NTS. .
Yes, but... They won't be including this runner pack. As it isn't scheduled for release until Jan '09. So while they won't be in time for this year's NTS they will be a nice way to start '09. And yes I have my pre-order in already! :tb-biggrin:
Yes, 4 or 5-car sets would be a nice idea. As well as a reedition of the Railbox with modern brand (the new boxcar without roofwalk). Last week I've been lucky enough to discover an used but in very nice shape Railbox boxcar in my LHS, from the former brand without roofwalk, before the molds were broken. So now I've 2 of them (with the same roadnumber...)!:thumbs_up: Dom
I've had to sit on this news for some time now and it was eating me up!! From the first day I submitted the idea of doing the Runner's packs I included in the plan to do Z as well, but cooler heads wanted to get the program running in a scale we could guarantee success. Like any change in course for a busniess, you have to take it slow. And I think Ben was correct to hold back on Z so we could prove the viability of the concept. So, yes, starting in January there will be Z runner's packs each month and I am expecting some input as to what folks are looking for. Note too, that these cars are reprints and as such will see single releases in due course. I think TTX and Railbox are sure winners but I want to be sure to offer the broadest range of subjects. This plan to start doing Runner's packs in Z will support some of the new products we have in development for 09...I think everyone (mostly) will be surprised and happy. I know I can't wait!!
