I can't claim this to be an original, but I sure like it: Everything's Better.... ...with Warbonnet on it! Man, it looks great! Now, I'm going to have to remove item 664 from Things to Do: 664. Get Subscription to N Scale Railroading.... 665...
Congratulations Verne! I too can't wait to head on down to my LHS and pick up a copy. I also like the "freshening" up of the magazine cover, can't wait to see what they did inside.
Yup! I noted it in my post earlier today. Looks fine to me. It's what's inside that really counts. So as long as that follows the standard he's already set, I'll be very happy! Boxcab E50
Verne, you must be really proud to have a cover article, not many people get to do that in their life time, good on ya!Cant wait to see the rest of the mag now.
Thanks for your kind comments, all! Kirk gave me a 'sneak peek' at an inside page when he told me about the redesign just before Chantilly, and swore me to secrecy. I haven't seen the issue yet, but I think mine will arrive today. Based on what I have seen, I am sure the redesign is going to look great!
Wait a minute, if that's the Engineer hanging out when who's running the train? I thought the controls were on the right? Nice picture by the way
Love those FT's, Verne! The cover shot looks great! Now I gotta go out and get my copy of NSR at the LHS. I know, I know, I need to subscribe!
Me too but unfortunately NSR do not subscribe electronically making it a little difficult for us International readers.
Beautiful FT's, Verne! I've always admired your work. I'll have to run down to Chuck's next weekend for my copy. I'm still waiting for the IM WP orange and silver FTs to be released. Someday...
I'm still waiting for the mag to arrive at my LHS. I've always been impressed with Verne's modeling. Nice to see him in print again and this time as a cover story. Congratulations VERNE !
Verne, That is just an awesome looking FT. Congrats for making the cover. Can't wait to get to the LHS and pick up my copy and see more. I for one kind of like that new look on the cover.
Congrats again Verne, I just read the article last night. Very nice models, very neat article. I plan to follow some of the same technics with my set of ATSF Kato F3s. I just need to figure out where to get some drawbars and windshield wipes, and handrails, etc. The magazine looks great too. They could use a proofer though, found a number of spelling and grammatical errors.
Thanks again, guys...I just got my issue yesterday, I also like the graphic redesign, think it is a good graphic layout for the magazine. I like the green signal logo, too. Chris, the windshield wipers are a Gold Medal Models part, see the bill of materials. I made the grab irons from fine wire and a pair of flat-jawed needlenose pliers. If you want pre-made parts, Gold Medal Models has a set of grab irons also available. I don't know of any set of drawbars other than IM's commercially available in N. For my Kato F3s, I use the old short shank Unimate couplers (now sold by Red Caboose) for close coupling. They are a big improvement over the wide spacing provided by the stock Rapido, or even the Micro-Trains conversion, IMHO. An added benefit is they prevent unintentional uncoupling, a problem I have sometimes with MT couplers between MU'd units. Have fun and share your results! Regarding proofreading, I would have to agree...my name was misspelled on the cover! But then I wish all my submissions could be completely error-free as well. Darryl, to answer your question in a previous post, the cover shot shows my Peco code 55...it looks heavier to my eye in the extreme closeup. I still need to weather the ballast in this section of the layout, per Bill Pearce's fine article on ballast... [ 22. August 2004, 18:33: Message edited by: Warbonnet-Fan ]
