Believe it or not, we have a choice of couplers in S scale. I'm not talking about the flyer type. Take a look at this and see what you think. http://user.icx.net/~sergent/ Also here is a link to some S scale aplications. http://www.trainweb.org/crocon/sergent1.jpg http://www.trainweb.org/crocon/sergent2.jpg http://www.trainweb.org/crocon/sergent3.jpg http://www.trainweb.org/crocon/sergent4.jpg http://www.trainweb.org/crocon/sergent5.jpg http://www.trainweb.org/crocon/sergent6.jpg The use of HO #5's is common in S and they do mate with the Kadee S scale coupler. In fact, I mix the HO and S with my equipment. I may also get some of those Sergent for the front of my F units. Enjoy. Greg
Wow! those Sergent couplers look very nice! Very realistic appearance! I'd sure consider those over an MT if they truly perform well? How are they for being ready to assemble? Much flash to clean up? I read the review on their web page. But it didn't really touch on that aspect? Boxcab E50 [ 11. September 2003, 00:42: Message edited by: BoxcabE50 ]
Yes they do look nice. I haven't tried any yet, but I hear that they are kind of fiddly to clean up. With that said, they seem to go together fine. I guess they work reliably. Like anything, they will have their strong points and weak points. Heck, even the prototype gives problems every now and then. Greg
They sure do. I remember the hours spent tweaking various coupler components, when I was working at PC&F. Some of the castings were so balky, I thought we'd never get the things to work. Boxcab E50
