I've added 2 pictures of steamers, CP 1229 and 5112 taken in the beginning of the 50's by my late father who loved trains more than anything else. These are B & W photos, scanned to the best I could to obtain some quality. Enjoy http://www.railimages.com/gallery/pierrelacombe
Pierre, do NOT apologize for B&W photos, many times they result in much better art than color, and the above photo is excellent art! Also in that scene there was no color to be seen, there was nothing but white snow, light grey sky, and a dark grey train.
Pierre, very nice! You have succeeded in bringing all of us steam fans.....hmm, there are a few more.....to the thread.
Thanks to you all out there for your kindword. I'll try to get new pictures of steam loco at my next visit to the museum next spring
For your information guys , Ste-Therese is a small town about 15 milles north of Montreal , Canada , the population is about 25,000 . We both lives in this small town and to meet each other we had to register to a forum far far away from home !!! That is some coincidence , you know how many forum exist ... I will give you a call Pierre !
If either of you catch any D&H equipment on the CP keep me in mind as I'm always looking for more images to post on my DHVM website. AT some point too I plan to travel into your area of Canada to do some D&H research so any insight would be greatly helpful.
SL , maybe you know that already , but just in case , the Canadian Museum of Trains ( Exporail ) is in Delson just south of Montreal . The name of the city was formed by compressing the Del ( of Delaware ) and son ( of Hudson ) . Delson was the end of the line for the D&H at the time and it was a pretty big railroad place for them . Yards , locomotives roundhouse , etc. etc. The museum that is now there have a lot of nice exhibit , they just finished about a year ago a big new hangar ( garage ) to keep more locomotives inside . Here is the link for the museum : http://www.exporail.org/
That's GREAT INFORMATION! that I was not aware of. From my quick view of the Exporail site they have at least one piece of D&H related equipment that I need to get a photograph of someday. Does Delson have a station from that time that still stands in some form?
Hey, when your a Fallen Flags guy you grab what information/photographs you can get before it is all lost to time.
From the records I have, Napierville Junction had seven (7) Cabooses #33 - #40. Does that match up with anyone elses knowledge that knows the D&H/NJ history in Canada?
