This is a followup to my entry in the weekend photo contest, because the story goes a little bit beyond the photo that I actually entered in the contest. This is the photo I entered in the contest: And this is what happened afterwards: After that, I couldn't even see the train, and the air was white with smoke for quite a while after.
Good ol' EMD's, loadin' up with un-burnt diesel. I rememeber UP frieghts with SD40-2's that sat for a while, then left Argo Yard covered in a blanket of white that resembled fog!! mg:
Only too bad this one is too old!! Might have to see if I can get something during train show tomorrow. IF I remember to bring my camera!
Wow! Looks like they are changing out a frozen traction motor for a "dummy" wheelset to get it to a shop. Makes me nervous lookin' at that wheelset hanging off the plow!! mg:
Traction motor burned out, so I was told. Installing temporary axle until locomotive could get back in for inspection. After this, it was headed back for major repairs!
Late to the contest To late to the March 6th contest :tb-hissyfit: Golden spike was delivered on time but no one though to built roads so the crane operator could get to the site to lift the spike into place:tb-wacky:
Too late for the "trestle" contest, dang it! Oh, well. Enjoy. SB Sounder on ex-Milwaukee Road trestle in Tacoma, WA.
OK, thanks. I had some of 3751 but they are old. Good luck, and I know there are a lot of Santa Fe survivors out there. :tb-biggrin: Therefore this one can't qualify, and I probably should put it in the Cutting Room Floor, but heck, if it ain't Santa Fe, I don't know what is. Taken at Railfair 99 in Sacramento, CA.
Bee-En... Just shot this today. If I didn't already have an entry into the "BN Heritage" pic contest....
Ok this one does not count either... (non- entry , uhgain)) Heck, this isn't even Galesburg, just a little bit west of there... Thanks for listening, I'm done... This one is a non - entry too. I yield already.
Sure, this would show up after the deadline for entries. Oh well, for your enjoyment anyway, green and black, red and silver anyone? 2 SD75m's and 7 SD60M's with the MLAUPAS103 at (Top)Muir on Bozeman Pass and (Bottom) East of Livingston on the MRL. 7/5/11
A second photo, that I was thinking of using in the Southern Pacific contest! Complete set of 3M Southern Pacific diesel locomotive lettering! As you can see, almost TOO big to photograph indoors when laid out on floor! Overall size is maybe close to 4x8 foot stacked. And close to 14 foot long when laid in straight line.
