From the perspective of an Armchair modeler... I have enjoyed the series so far...currently they are assembling a Woodland Scenics HO scale kit... I think they could use a little more camera close-ups for some of the detail work, like the mini segment on soldering...or maybe I need my eyes examined!...But it is nice to see our hobby on TV...
I wish I could get the DIY on cable. That's why I'm switching over to a dish after they revise their receivers for additional broadband width after the first of the year. Stay cool and run steam....
After DIY's last series (darned if I can remember what it was called) I was kinda looking forward to this, hoped it would have some good ideas and construction hints. I get the feeling , though, that it's awful close to a oodland Scenics infomercial. Don't get me wrong, I'm still watching and grateful to see model RR on TV, but it's kinda disappointing in a way.
Well ...I guess that is the problem with this somewhat smallish hobby...compared to RC...I see that WS and Kalmbach and a few others are sponsors of the show...so I am sure that has an effect on the show's content
If it continues in the path of Radio Control TV, some of that seeming brand loyalty should dissapear. When RC TV first came on it appeared to be an infomercial for Duratrax and Great Planes. As it aged, their products and manufacturer list broadened quite a bit. Hopefully Workin' will do the same. I am guessing they needed seed money from a few of the manufactures to get the show rolling. Those are the manufactures that will get the airtime until more companies step up. At least it's fresh and not 5-10 years old reruns like Tracks Ahead on PBS.
When is this shown televised? I believe our cable system has this network. Web site for info? Boxcab E50
Even with my "observation," don't get me wrong, I have and will watch and love having a new show about "my" hobby.
