    Hi All-

Just wanted to introduce myself - I've been collecting N-scale models for a while; haven't considered a permanent layout yet, but every so often I'll set up some unitrak to run trains. Being in my mid-20s, I grew up watching the UP and BNSF swallow up the SP and ATSF, but I have a soft spot for the golden age of passenger trains, particularly the 30s and 40s when steam was still king. I'm mostly a Santa Fe modeler, and sort of a long-term project is to assemble various name trains as they were in the 1940s (Chief, Scout, California Limited, Grand Canyon).

I've also dabbled in V-scale (mostly Microsoft Train Simulator, at one point modeled an ATSF 3700 class 4-8-2), but have been going back and forth between that and n-scale - with Shapeways I'm planning on doing more 3D modeling for n-scale.

I look forward to sharing some of my own projects, and hope to learn alot from this forum!

    -Justin

Welcome to Trainboard. When I get my time machine up and running I will drop you a line so we can go ride those classic Santa Fe passenger trains. :)

Welcome Justin! You've come to the right place! I am doing several Santa Fe and SP passenger trains myself. 30's to 90's is my time frame......LOL :)

    Justin,

Glad to have you on board. You aren't the only with a love for the transition era. There are quite a number of us in SoCal and you will find the guys and gals friendly and receptive. Plenty of clubs to join and home style model railroads to visit.

If you dare, there are a number of us that would love to show off our layouts here in Big Bear Country.

Enjoy and we will look forward to hearing more from you.

Rick, I have got to get up there to see you guys.

I do regret missing the Socal layout tour in your neck of the woods.

Hi Justin, Welcome to the TrainBoard, as others have said, we're glad that you are on board. Though I never rode the Santa Fe, only the RI/SP 4 times on the Golden State, and that was 65 years ago, I look forward to seeing what you come up with, especially since you prefer the oNly Scale worth meNtioNing...
