Is there a company out there, making house kits, that might be similar in quality to structures built by DPM? Have an idea in mind, for a small town scene. And am thinking of homes that we might have seen our grandparents living in. Built prior to World War II. Leaning more to rural America. Suggestions? Boxcab E50
Boxcab Check out Northeastern Scale Models.. Jean the owner has made some increible Victorians in N and HO scale. They are laser kits and are very reasonable
http://www.railimages.com/gallery/N-Scale-Structures-and-Vehicles/aan Grandt Line makes these. Three to a kit with a lot of way to vary. Includes gingerbread trim and outhouses. http://www.railimages.com/gallery/N-Scale-Structures-and-Vehicles/aao Had enough parts left over from two three house kits to build a garage and a couple of out bldgs. Also American Model Builders Laser Kit line has a Company Houses kit that has three houses. Both give you 1900s-40s era one and two bedroom single story houses, and the Grandt Line product gives you lots of kitbash options.
Atlas has a nice colonial house kit. Bachman made a nice kit of a 1920's Sears house a few years ago and I still see them from time to time. IHC made a beautiful model of the gingerbread houses that appear in just about every photo of San Francisco. I think it was made about 15 years ago, but I still see them occaisionaly, though usually as used at swap meets and thus allready assembled. Model Power has made some great house kits, but I think they are currently only available as built-ups.
Miller Enginering mase some etched brass kits that were very nice, but a little pricey. I don't know if they are still available but some shop may have them. Here is one of them that I built.
Blairline makes a few buildings. Laser cut wood. I've put a couple together and like them, but they are more of the plainer farm-type houses.
