There's no doubt Kato will do the heritege P42's, look at all the other Amtrak stuff they have been doing lately. They even have the Amtrak 1971-2011 banner on their website and a downloadable poster of their current Amtrak offerings that says "Celebrate Amtrak's 40th Anniversery with Kato."
I just saw #156 on RailPictures. I like that alot more than #145. Looks like the paint job of an E-8.
I wasn't even aware Amtrak was doing this. Completely blindsided. I love the classic Ph3 and E-8 style scheme. Very classy, even on an angular P42. Was the railfan community as a whole as surprised by this as I was?
I think those of us who follow Amtrak were aware that this was going to happen. I started hearing about all this last Novemberish I think. Also, it would be awesome if Atlas released the Heritage P32 if that comes about! Chris
I have a hunch that Kato is going to do something. I just got the weekly news letter & in the top right hand corner is the new Amtrak 40th anniversary logo. If #156 is one, I'll get it.
Personally I think the PhII will look best. Also I am exicted to hear a P32, my favorite amtrak engine, will be repainted.
