OK, this is a bit embarrassing.

I recently bought the above loco. In the box was a small plastic bag with the coupler pins, the number boards, and a few other black parts I cannot figure out. Two long pieces with a 'hand grab' at one end, 4 narrow pieces with a slight curve to them.

Anybody have one of these that knows where those parts go? heh heh

Those are long couplers, you do not have to use them but they are recomended for small radius curves.

From your description,I'd say those are the hoses. They go on the front & rear pilots.

This is just speculation as I am not sure from your description. I pulled out my SD40 parts sheet and looked at that. This is what I came up with.

The two long pieces with the 'hand grab' on the end might be the pipe that goes between the brake cylinders (there should be 4 of these supplied). These pieces are on the sprue with what might be construed as a hand-grab on them.

The 4 pieces with the curve in them might be the MU hoses (there should be 8 supplied)

Thanks, guys, I think I'm down to one item.

The 4 curved parts have 3 lines carved into them, so I DO think those are the MU connections.

That leaves the 'grab hand' (not a good description). There are two of them. There are also two very tiny holes drilled thru them - one at each end (almost the end). BTW, the end opposite the 'grab hand' is like an inverted U facing outward from the end.

    Got that? :tb-err:

Sounds like you are describing the small piece of the long coupler. There are 3 pieces to the Kato coupler, the main knuckle, the jaw piece which opens and closes and then of course the trip pin.
