Kirtland is located on I 90 east of Cleveland, OH. This yearly NMRA show is coming up this weekend (March 16-17, 2024) and I am thinking of going, weather permitting. In the distant past, this was a pretty good show but fell on hard times due to scheduling and venue issues. I haven't attended for about ten years and so before I commit to driving about 300 miles round trip, I would like some information as to what I can expect. Has anyone attended this show in the past year or two?
Well, no replies so I made the trip anyway. I figured on getting there early Sunday before any crowds but the parking lot was already filling up. Talked to some of the N scale layout guys, both Burning River N Trak and Lake Erie N scale (LENS). Some really nice modules from both clubs. I did not see any Freemo or TTrak layouts. There was a lot of HO stuff as one might expect. There was more O scale stuff than what I recall from past shows and at least two O scale layouts. Bought some scratch building supplies that I found there. These I was planning on buying on Ebay so I saved on shipping to offset the turnpike tolls. I left around 1;00pm when the show was getting more crowded.
Yes, the 'tool guy' from B&B hobbies which formerly was a brick and mortar store located in Bridgeville, PA was there. Always fun to peruse all the tools and gadgets he stocks.
When I find someone like this at a show, I always come away with something I'll possibly never use. But it was just so cool, I had to have it!
I attended Saturday. Gorgeous sun but wind was very sharp....sure glad they were running a very courteous lady driving a shuttle bus. A real nice show!
