Signaling in general and crossing gates/lights specifically are areas that I've always put off delving into...I figured I'd do that when I got that far. Wellllll, it's time.

What I am planning is a simple Kato N scale double track oval, based on foam over a HCD. The plan for now is DCC, with minimal if any blocking. There will only be one grade crossing.

What I need is a laundry list of what I'll need to implement gates and lights at that crossing. Thanks.

I am curious about this as well............I want to add crossing signals to a "Unitrack" layout, preferably powered by DC.
( The track power will be DCC, but turnouts, signals, misc. will be powered off Kato power packs )
I would like to know the best option for someone not very skilled with electronics ( i.e. - I don't want to build my own from scratch )
    :tb-confused:

Got to be someone who knows this inside & out??................

    RE: HELP WITH SIGNALS

    "Zandoz"-
Go to this site, you should be able to find the parts & information you need to do what you want. The "NJ International" signals are about the best quality going.

I was curious about this as well, but I guess we were invisible to everybody else. I just did some poking around on my own.

    Hope that helps.............:tb-cool:

This is a file from a Japanese user which helped in converting KATO crossing to DCC use.
I have converted my KATO croosing to DCC useage which simplifies and makes a NON DCC hardware to DCC useable.
PLEASE NOTE these items are not exported to USA and are sold in Japan.

    Kato Unitrack crossing gate
    Kato Unitrack crossing gate

I have bought several KATO 20-651 units and converted them to DCC useage with NJ International crossing gates and signals.
