Hello, everyone. i recently caught the train bug, again. the grandkids wanted me to set up the g scale bmann train in a box at Christmas. reluctantly i did and here i go again. i actually remembered my login here, did so. it had been 3 years to the day since my last login. i really have no place for a layout at present. after a trip to the lhs where Dave has built a small layout base entirely from pink foam. i liked the idea but not the foot or so of thickness. i have laminated 2 pieces of 3/4" foam (3' x 4', NSCALE), way to flexy. so i went on a search for some kind of truss to give some rigidity. i pictured in my mind what i wanted, but did not want to spend the time or money to build them. then, buried under my shed was a section of drop ceiling perimeter, 3/4x3/4...perfect. i will try to post some pics later.

NOW THE QUESTION: I REMOVED THE PLASTIC VAPOR BARRIER FROM THE FOAM BEFORE GLUING THE PIECES TOGETHER, ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS?

    thanks, david

This is highly recommended. The vapor barrier has a tendency to delaminate over time and anything glued to it will go with it. A good bond to the foam underneath is essential.

It is necessary to remove that layer. Let us know how it goes.
