Four years ago I was at Hawkins Rails Services in Lafayette IN and purchased 6 or 8 weathered N scale cars. I love these cars and would like to find out who did it and how it was done. I heard the modeler was a teacher and has since switched to HO scale. Here is a pic of the N scale car. The weathering doesn't look that good because of the flash but wow it is subtle and nice. Thanks Lucas Sitka, Alaska - How did I end up in Indiana?
Coolhand, Weathering cars is pretty simple. You have multiple options. - Drybrush with Chalks (Aim Products). - Use of an airbrush with multiple colors. - Weathering Solutions (Scenery Solutions, Weather-It, Rust-All, Blacken-It) -brush on, let dry Some people use all the methods above, some use 1 or 2. The choice is yours, get some rinky-dink cars and play around testing what works best. Once your happy seal it all up with some Testors Dullcote. HTH, T
There is a guy in Kokomo that has a hobby shop and does some custom stuff and also is a school teacher. I will get his info and post it later.
