Where are you? - The modelers who are into Z-Scale with (North) American material, means Micro-Trains-Line first! Even in Model Railroader Magazine I did not see much of Z-Scale american models. - As there were about one whole layout build by Model Railroader staff in 1987, and one article about Z-scale (1985) by the same author. - There was only one article in Great Model railroads I remember with a «Northern Pacific» layout.
I like to read something from people modeling in that scale! Tell about your experience with these trains!

    Welcome aboard Kilroy.

I'm interested in Z Scale myself. I'm an N Scale modeler but I recently moved from the Central US to the East Coast. The house I am living in now is not really condusive to a layout like the one my friend and I had when I lived in Kansas. I would have room for a Z Scale layout though and I think that would be a lot of fun. Of course I am into the American roads and I know a lot of Z Scale folks are into the European or other International Railroads. If I could find (the money first) American E Units, F Units, GP-7's and that sort of thing I would really be interested in that. I think Z Scale would be fun but I have not seen much of it other than some Micro Trains stuff at the train store where I used to live.

    Don't worry, be happy!
Or try to do so, never give up, if you want to get it, if you know what you want!
Means: there is a lot in z-scale, only it depends on the material you like and could financially afford! - I'm in z-scale for about 13 years, and after that time, I find, there is much. Actually on the market it is maybe not so heavy in choice. Then comes brass! Want to know about my stuff, see my homepage at: http://www.geocities.com/kilroy1313/index.html
Don't give up [IMG] Z-Scale is tough! KILROY

There is a US Z scale magazine called
Z-Track. All about Z and nothing else.
You can find their web site on my links
    page at www.tinytrain.com.

For you new Zed heads looking for US prototype models and structures for your layouts go to:http:www.micronart.com to see some nice Z scale structures. For US downtown buildings and Victorian houses, go to Micro Structures (there's a button link at the bottom of the Micron Art home page to take you there) for some great kits as well. I just had to say something. Happy Z scaling guys. Z scale will rule the world one day!

Hey all, I just bought my first Z scale engine today! I bought a Micro-Trains Santa Fe Blue Bonnet F7A. My wife and I model in N scale, but she would love to do a coffee table layout under glass. I saw the Santa Fe, F unit in the rare blue bonnet scheme and I had to have it. I told my wife that I would buy the track and cars at the Galesburg Railroad Days. This little engine looks great! For the size, I think they look very realistic, can't wait to get a monster (2'x4') layout built! I also saw an add in Model Railroader for a GP38 in Z, it looked really nice, and I hope to find it. Z looks like great fun.

BNSF7173, that sounds great. I would like to get into that myself. I'll have to wait until all of that is available in Frisco first though [IMG]

    Hello BNSF7173:
Good choice! Found something in my bookmarks concerning that GP38/just have a look: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Thomas_Habrik/z/rogue
This should be bra$$ [IMG] build by ROGUE. You'll find more by browsing through the Z-SCALE WEBRING. - That "coffee table layout under glass" is also one of my dreams. - But go slowly with that "monster (2'x4') layout", it's not "that easy", to have Z-Scale run reliably >>Start small!<< (Kilroy's advice!) and then go for a bigger layout, then, it should bring a lot of fun [and keep it under cover from dust!!]

Rogue folded last year due to serious illness
of it's principal designer. This was covered in an article in Ztrack magazine. The GP38s do show up on Ebay from time to time.
