I have heard that about Amazon, but have never seen it first hand until now. This is truly a case where corp. greed has taken place. Lets line the CEOs pockets and rip off the working man.

I know one working man that wont do business with them.

    It gets worse.
I recently saw an add on amazon for a book I'm very interested in (not RR-a military title).
There was one listing for $1,000- available for immediate delivery.
Just a bit odd, as a few months prior pre-orders were being taken for about $65. (published price to be about a hundred)
That offer no longer being present, I checked with the author through his forum.
Seems he is doing a major revision and first publishing has been delayed about a year; the book doesn't even exist yet...

If one really wanted to, they could probablly sue Amazon for mis respresentation of a product. Especially if one come prove that the product doesn't even exist yet. I am sure a lawyer could have a heyday with that one.

    Hey, it's up to .21!

OK, so if it cost under 7 cents new, and you can get a 300% markup by putting it individually on Ebay and damaging it.... so a clear pegboard box of 50 is worth $10.50...and likely climbing...

    1) I'm running for president, I have a better plan than the other two for reducing the national debt....
    2) I always used to envy the real railroad scrappers for the commodity plays. Well move over, Kovalchick Salvage!

I think it is telling that the only bidders are listed as "private listing - bidders' identities protected". The seller and the bidders are all probably the same guy - he's just hoping some sucker will jump in with a legitimate bid and fall for the scam.

    Then on the other hand...

Could be someone who visits all the forums and has seen the "EckBay humor" threads on almost all of them. He posts a silly item for sale...people are drawn in by the forum posts about it and go look at it. While they are there...they check out his other ( legit) items he has for sale. His sales rise...me makes $$$$.

    Creative advertising maybe ????

Except this guy's other legit items are parts of a 1960's toy building set painted brown and passed off as HO scale models. Don't get me wrong. My mom had these, we used to play with them at Grandma's house. They were alot of fun. They aren't HO models though! http://www.ebay.com/itm/221043292471

Or maybe his other auctions are more legit, like this one that is for "HO SCALE RAIL JOINER until I change the auction to something else, please wait until updated. Good Condition, nothing looks broken. No box." http://www.ebay.com/itm/221046161485

Or maybe the lot of Tyco cabooses are the legit?

I'd guess this clown is either just that, thinks he's funny (or at least is amusing himself). Could be he has no idea what he's got. Or he could be a complete hole. Either way, the end price on most of his stuff is pretty low. That's what happens when you list complete crap a really crappy way. Nobody can find it to bid on it.

And to think that this guy forks over how much $$$$ each month to Feebay just to list his junk items? I dont get it.

Well at least he is getting something for it, other than just throwing it away and not getting anything. Of course, what is your time worth?

Well there is that. At least he's getting something for it, and presumably the stuff that does sell is going to somebody who wants it for some reason. I can't imagine anybody want's a lot of broken Tyco cabeese, but would be a shame if somebody wanted them real bad and they guy who had them threw them out!

Well looking at his auctions with no bids, my guess is no. Looking at his 15 day history with one bid, my guess is no.

OMG again. I checked on other items this seller is selling. I could not believe what some of his prices were.

I don't know if I should laugh at this seller or feel sorry for them? Greed or stupidity.

A quick search on eBay will render the going rate for most stuff.

99% will laugh or grin and move on, but then there is always that 1%.....:headspin:

But like Skipgear said: "It's their choice"

It will be interesting to see his response if he even gives you one.

If you get any response I'm sure it will point out that the one you referenced is brand new, and his is "RARE!" "NOS!" "MIB!" "ORIGINAL!" "COLLECTABLE!" "HARD TO FIND!" and "VINTAGE!". Probably all the good sounding words just shy of "ANTIQUE!". The $12.95 price tag is a little more realistic. Crappy old N scale stuff is pretty crappy stuff, and I don't see it having the level of collector appeal as some of the 3 rail stuff that's twice as old that some people do want. If it ever does become sought after stuff, it will at least be after they quit popping out brand new ones!
