Hey guys and gals, starting in 1946 the Santa Fe had a transcontinental run in conjunction with New York Central and Pennsylvania Railroads. I have a copy of the Fourth Quarter 2007 "Warbonnet" that contains a photo of The Chief at Ribera, New Mexico. Included in the consist are 2 NYC cars (a 4-4-2 and a 10-5) in postwar gray, a 6-6-4 Santa Fe car, and a 4-4-2 Pennsy car. What does this all mean? I guess just that you can mix and match railroads and have a prototypical passenger train. --Steve from the other Phoenix
Joe, what era are these passenger cars? Just saw all the Harriman's at the 50th anniversary of the last Pacific run thru Niles Canyon yesterday (and yes, I have RAW format pix and movies). UP got the SP 2472 4-6-2 down to Niles Canyon from the Golden Gate RR Museum in Alameda. It will run all summer on Sundays. .
Jeff showed me his pics of the SP Harriman's today, as well as a couple run-by videos he took. There was a 4-6-2 and Black Widow GP9 torpedo tube in his pics as well. I am heading across town tomorrow to take a looksee.
Joe, this is a great approach, adding just the decals for specific numbers. I know it's early days yet, but will you consider doing something similar for your N scale cars when they arrive?
Hi William, Yes, we plan on doing the same thing with the N Scale Heavyweights. Like the Z Light Weights we'll be doing select cars completely decorated as necessary. Joe MTL
