    Good Evening/Morning All,

Is anyone aware of a good version of a CB&Q type F-7 that is being currently produced (other than brass)? I have seen the ads for Intermountain's F-3's with the proper pilots, but I have never seen the same thing for an F-7.

    Thanks,

    Scott

I believe InterMountain had some Q F7 units, maybe about four-five years ago? I can't speak for accuracy, etc. But perhaps browse through our advertisers and see what they list.

They are very hard to find. I have been searching for F units, A's in particular since IM cancelled the FT Q run. Good luck, if find any extras please let me know.

I just received an FT set that I spent a long, long time trying to locate. That now makes my F7 B unit potentially surplus for the right price. If you are interested let me know.

I would certainly be interested. Do you want to do this off list?

    Scott,

They must have changed things around here as I could not find the Fallen Flags site. I appreciate the interest but I have elected to keep the B unit. The Q had only a handful of them so I think it is a unique unit on my roster. I did just win a second FT a/b set on Ebay. I would try MaineTrains.net as they may still have an FT set in stock. Ebay may take awhile but if you keep searching regularly you will eventually find what you are looking for at the right price in my experience.

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for getting back. That's not a problem, I understand completely. I still have a couple of undec F-3B's that I haven't decided how to paint yet. They were originally set to be CB&Q, but I've been thing AT&SF blue lately.

    Best,

    Scott

I believe that type pilot is called a "passenger" pilot. The other, more common one, is a freight pilot. You could probably do a kitbash.

A reasonable representation of a passenger pilot can be made by using paper to make a template and once you get the shape right, cut it out of an aluminum soda can and glue it over the freight pilot like so:

These are Kato F7 shells my father(MMR443)modified for me many years ago.

P.S. Normally you would want to leave the step cut into the pilot on, but I was rather fat-fingered in my youth and managed to break them off...

Well, I am the proud owner of a pair of F3 Intermountain shells to go around my lone F7. Now to find a couple of reasonably priced F units so I can swap the shells!
