Howdy, Just wanted to post a scan of the first group of passenger cars I am working on for my NdeM line. Since I have to test the first shots I figured why not make them look interesting? So far I have one coach, two sleepers and a baggage car pretty much done, also a pair of Marklin cars done up in one of the special schemes used on the runs out of Mexico City. Cool thing about the NdeM, they had a huge range of paint schemes and seemed to freely mix and match in some of the photo's I have. It seems common to have these cut in with freight cars on local mixed consists as well. I have a GP40 and an F7B unit underway to tow the whole operation once I finish everything. The next big step is to bash a Baggage/RPO out of a coach and get a couple dome cars done in the two tone blue schemes and then put my sun glasses on when I run them all together. I am hoping to have completed shots of all the components up on the web in a week or so...production is gearing up now. Cheers Joe MTL
Nice schemes Joe! They do have variety, but I think solid NP Lowey Green consist would have looked prettier!
Joe, You are a fantastic modeler. We are so very fortunate that MTL brought you on to their organization. Bill El Toro, CA
Nice work, Joe. I always perk up my ears when someone mentions modeling something in an NdeM scheme. Best regards Ed
Thanks Ed, They aren't 100% at this time, I'm just going off photo's, but couldn't resist doing them. I got my f-7's painted last night and it'll make for a colorful pull. I have the Morning Sun book on NdeM, are there references specific to the passenger cars? Once I get all the final tooling shots together I want to go back and upgrade if necessary. Cheers Joe MTl
I can't help much myself, having gotten here too late to see any of these. The Morning Sun book is pretty much the best generally available reference. But there are some guys on the Mexlist website that really know the details on NdeM passenger cars inside and out. You might want to post over there, provide a link to your photos, and ask for comments or advice. Here's the link to the forum. http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/MEXLIST/ Best regards Ed
Got the first shots of the dome car today. Once I get some more frame sets I can cut and past and make an SP 3/4 Dome car in Z ... oh happy days!!! ) Joe MTL
Joe, I plan to strip my UP set, and turn them into csx office cars. Talking about CSX, what is the news on the SD40? I hope its next months release.
not next month for sure, I hope to get parts to do final approval this week and then we can rock and roll on them. Plastic is finished and ready to process.
Wow! So the sd 40 might be out the month after next? Hmmmm does anybody know for sure the first road name?
Joe, still too early to say, it all depends on China...and they haven't been to dependable at all. The first road looks like it will be CSX in the overall Blue scheme...newest I belive. Joe
Yep...but it will take three dome parts to span the car, when you decide to do this conversion let me know and I'll see if I can find some spare parts. I'm working on a SP 3/4 dome car and I am only using the ends of the dome since the window spacing was different....still a whole lot easier than from scratch! Joe MTl
