Torsja, Your name came up in the ZCentral Station Sunday chat about being the most capable person to tackle machining a more accurate boiler for a USRA Mikado for the Marklin Chassis. You think you are up to the challenge? ;-) Randy PS - I think it was Robert's idea. ;-)
Latest picture Here is the latest picture off my Locomotive project. PS: The lettering is fake, made in Photoshop. But I hope I can get them made some time in the future. It needs some more weathering and some more details, but it's coming along slowly.
Looking Good! Very Nice Work! Awesome! Outstanding! Fantastic! AmaZing! Love it! Keep it up! Hobo Tim
finished? I will now say that I'm finished with this Steam locomotive project for now. I tried to put a decoder in it, but the decoder was damages and would not work. Perhaps I try again in the future some time. In the mean time it runs on an upgraded 5pole motor. The weathering was a bit too heavy, but I will take some off it off before sealing it with dull coat. But all in all I'm happy with the outcome and have now a unique locomotive for my NEER layout. And a couple off pictures beside the Marklin model.
That is so freakin real. So right on for the mining scene, not to mention the photo aspect (you getting these Jim ?). Thanks for adding to my library photo stock to help show others what can be done in Z. OUTSTANDING. BTW: looks like I will not make it to Oslo in time this year.
Torsja, that is very fine looking indeed! You know you've created something special when it looks better than the comercial available loco's!
Here is a small video off my Needle Eye locomotive http://www.norskmjforum.no/video/data/needle-eye-locomotive01.wmv
Going through the S curve in the rocks and coming out of that rock wall onto the huge trestle is awesome. Can you get one from track level, like we were standing in the station? Rob, we need to get some old old stuff on the BAZ BoyZ. Those repainted Marklin Old Time cars are a start, now we have to repaint the Bumble Bee, at least.
Torsja Have you tried 2 mm Association drivers and frames from England. I model Nn3 DRG&W and am halfway through scratchbuilding a narrow guage Baldwin. Runs on z scale track but is N scale. I bet some of Association parts are usable in your projects. Dick Porter
Thank you guys. And doesn't it have some nice wooden boxcars after it also Robert? For sure it would be nice to have some prefabricated parts both from 2mm and Aspen Dick. But I just don't have the money to buy everything I want so I end up trying to build it my self. But off course building it my self is one off the best things I like in this hobby so I rely don't mind that I can't always get what I want, when ever I want. PS: I have another Hobby that takes most off the money. Rebuilding and some times racing my old '67 Ford Fairlane, and some other automobile project that I have.
I agree Aspen parts very nice but out of my price range too. 2 mm drivers are so nice I could not resist. We probably are similar. When not working on what my wife calls mice trains, I am restoring a Triumph TR6. Parts for me are as expensive as Ford Fairlane parts are for you. Nice to to talk to you. Dick Porter
