O.K. I'll show some more but I'm sure someone is going to tell me nicely that enough is enough. If you see something that you would like me to weather to look real just let me know and I get to work on that one. I really need to make a panorama to help make the weathered engines look better. Maybe I'll just delete the older pictures and add the new weathered ones so that I don't use so much memory for the pictures.
Well I don't hear anybody yelling at me to stop yet so here's a few more!! Looks like number 751 will have to visit the roundhouse to receive some repairs on it's front uncoupler lever.
I'm now up to 4253 cars and locomotives, I need another hobby!! I'm thinking of making a diorama scene and run a hundred car drag with sound and put it on u tube. Any ideas out there?
Oh crap!!! I just computed that I'll need 145 foot of straight track, this may take a while, I'll try to buy a heap of track at a decent price on e-bay.
Welcome, from another N00b!!! I'm also a member of the 'ol Fart club!! That Sir, is SOME collection you got there!!! Ya know, if you sold of a couple of pieces (or 100!!!) - you could easily afford ALL of your track, and probably the lumber as well..,... Now, this is only a suggestion, I'd have a hard time myself!! I don't NEARLY have the collection you have..... Just something to ponder.
I'm sorry I didn't comment earlier but my father passed away and things have been hectic to say the least!! You are correct to say I should sell some to pay for other supplies but these little treasures are more for my retirement than anything else. I have an idea that when I weather these trains with the technics that I have I will have no problem selling as many as I can finish. I will put up a few finished cars when I am done detailing them, these things take a lot of time due to drying times of all the mediums used but it is worth it in final appearance. It takes from 5 to 7 days to finish a car, luckily I do a number of them at a time so I can sell them reasonably.
I'll add my sympathy at hearing of his passing. Not an easy thing to go through, but my experience tells me it does get better.
Thank you for your thoughts and well wishes, he lived a long life at 88 years old. I just wished he didn't pass on my birthday.
Just a little idea to run by the moderators, since I have so many different makes of train cars how about if I put a picture up every so often and see if someone knows what the make of the model is ( of course model railroaders will have to give the newbies a little time to come up with the answer first) This may be useful for some who have some cars and don't know who makes them. If allowed I will take a picture of the side, end and bottom of the car so you can see the details, I will throw a trick one in every so often but will give clues to it's maker! Oh and by the way I'm over 4500 cars and locomotives at this time!!
Nothing wrong with your idea. Go for it. However, it would probably be best to move on into the appropriate scale forum, and out of this new member area. Or, you could even start some 'guess this manufacturer' topics in our Contest forum.
