Hi Guys, Well finally some new material to work with from Kato and Bachmann. We have the N Scale Silver Streak E5 locomotive and the completely redone Bachmann N Scale 2-6-0 Mogul. Over at TopHobbyTrains we did sound packages for each. The new LokSound Micro ver 4 is a greatly improved decoder over the old ver 3.5. All the issues with sound volume and speaker impedance have been corrected. It is a bit shorter than it predecessor and is not as thick. The decoder fits in the short tender of the Mogul. It fits nicely in the body of the E5 as well. We still prefer to mill the diesel frame creating speaker chambers right in the loco itself. The E5 has a simulated MARS light and separately controlled headlight and number board lights. FANTASTIC!! That mogul is awe-inspiring.... no way those sound decoders I just got stay in their packages past Monday!! I'm on your site looking at your offerings, very cool for guys with all thumbs. Cheers!
Thanks, Arlette was running the layout for the first time in a few years and she really had some fun with this little loco. There are some very subtle updates in this bachmann N Scale loco that help make it a very good running locomotive. The tender electrical pickup strips have small keepers at each end preventing them from bending too far up and loosing contact with the wheel contacts. This area is always the final adjustment made in our installations and have commented on this may times. This is just good re-engineering on Bachmann's part. Hopefully this small change will make its way to future releases of the other steam loco tenders from Bachmann.
