:tb-wacky:Is there a step by step guide or thread that anyone has posted on building a BN SD49-2 B uint and/or BN B30-7A cabless uints? Tried search and got in theard.
http://www.qstation.org/B30-7A/ that will take care of the B30-7A As for the SD40-2s, nope, haven't seen one, well not for HO.
Welcome to Trainboard. I do not know the specific information you are seeking, but I am sure someone here knows. Good road choice by the way
I don't know of any on-line articles for the SD40-2B. But I do know of at least 2 print articles. The first is in the March 1989, Mainline Modeler. This one is a modeling article. The second is in the January 1992, Railmodel Journal. This is a "detail-by-detail" article. As for the B30-7A, there are easier ways to do one then following that qstation article. Your best starting point is a Atlas High Hood B23-7 and replacing its cab with the Smokey Valley "utility cab" kit #63. The best modeling article on these units was done by Bavid Bontrager in the March & April 1991 issues of Mainline Modeler.
Found another print article on the SD40-2B. This one was by Steve Orth in the July 2002 issue of Railmodel Journal. In it he use's a Kato SD40-2 to make BNSF #7501.
I have a pair of old SD40-2 and SD40-2B units. They were custom modded by my late uncle, but I know he has several drawings I own that he used. I will try and find them. If I can't, I'll see if their in storage with the rest of my uncle's HO Equipment in my aunt's house. These units need to be rebuilt and I'll get to them eventually.
