The Hallmark ornaments for 2008 appear to be around N Scale proportion...an FTA, "Irvington" type O-27 coach and observation, and a USRA Light Mikado on a stocking hanger. Haven't seen the Carlton (American Greetings) train offerings for 2008 yet. Charlie Vlk
I made a mistake... the cars are not called "Irvington" types.... those were the original plastic heavyweight cars that only came as Pullmans and were known as the Manhattan, Irvington. and Madison cars .... the cars I am referring to are the small, O-27 riveted side streamlined cars in the 2440 series, that had names of Clfiton, Summit, Newark and Elizabeth. Curent productions added full baggage, combines, diner, and full dome to the original coach, dome and observation types and have been made by Lionel and copies by Williams and MTH. Charlie Vlk
Here's a link to the 2008 hallmark figures and models. Hallmark 2008 pages The New York Central seems to be a size around Z-scale !!?? Ben
Too bad the just did an FTA, as no FT's were sold that way, only AB or ABBA's as far as I remember? Anyways I can use some FT's.
I wonder if Hallmark knows how many "ornaments" in the past became Z Scale units. If sales are down this year I hope they don't blame it on the economy. ...don
The cars scale out to N Scale.... I measured the original Lionel O-27 ones and they are definitely not Z if the Wish Book dimensions are close. The FTA looks to be proportional to the cars..... We'll see when they come out... but I'm guessing there will be no joy on this forum as there was with the American Freedom Train PAs and Heavyweights. The ornaments are copied from tinplate (not some of the better Lionel close-to-scale) items anyway so their use is limited no matter what the scale. Charlie Vlk
