This was not, to my knowledge, on Ebay. But you all might want this 'Badboy' locomotive. Badboy Steam Train Building Kit Collectible Steam Locomotive - Temu
If the same item was available from Lego it would be close to $200 or more. Read the description and ratings from buyers on this item. This looks like the same construction and parts from a company that sells a product called bionicles (sp). This is also a company that makes their products in the US. Don't be so quick on criticizing something you don't take the time to research. Seems to get more attention on the negative remarks made then to help someone see what is the whole picture and not basing something on an assumption. John
I'm thinking "Badboy" is a way to circumvent any claim the Union Pacific may have on "Big Boy." As far as this model versus Legos... I know Legos will go together correctly if you can follow the instructions-- and I have done Lego building with my son. I have my doubts about this product considering what I've read about Temu. You get what you pay for. Sometimes, not even that. Also, I can purchase all the positive ratings I need. I ignore all of them, everywhere. "All reviews are from verified purchases"? Then I've got a Brooklyn Bridge you can purchase from me.
Being less extreme on either end of the spectrum, I tend to focus on Three Star ratings as being the most informative on websites such as Home Depot, Lowes or Best Buy. Case in point. I was looking at tool chests and in reading reviews on Craftsman chests at Lowes, there are a lot of complaints about poor packaging leading to hidden damage. I visited Lowes and when I looked up on the shelving, sure enough, many of the Craftsman corrugated boxes were in terrible shape.
So, at first, I thought the same about it being a way to circumvent and name infringement but surfing a little more on Temu, I found the same kit from another source that is named "BigBoy" so possibly just bad spelling or an attempt at something else.
Well, after the original post, I showed the Temu site and this particular item to my wife. She told me that she found a couple of rugs she liked on Temu that was a super good price and that she was going to give it a try. What she didn't mention was that she had found a coupon and another discount and that she added a surprise to her order. It was sitting on the table with my NSE membership car package when I got home last night. The NSE car is sitting on the box for a size reference. 1608 parts. I took one part from the box and matched it with a Lego and it's basically an exact copy. This should be fun. Once I start the build, I'll start a thread over in the Inspection Pit since this really isn't N. Wish me luck!
