    Hey guys and girls,

I'm modelling the Santa Fe in texas in the 50's, and I have a foreign railroad and interchange. I want the MKT to do the honors of being my foreign road, but I can't seem to find a concrete answer on the freight scheme used in the mid 50's.

Was it the all-over red with yellow herald, or was it the red with yellow nose and white sill stripes?

Hello Will, looking through the "Missouri-Kansas-Texas Lines" by Raymond George, it appears the logo and paint scheme was changed to the over-all red w/yellow herald about 1957 onward.

    Hope this helps.

You can get away with the red w/yellow stripes AND the all-over red with the "KATY" logo, if indeed you model the late 1950s. The latter was a result of William N. Deramus after he came to the Katy.

I have a book by Raymond George, Jr. that shows red with a white herald.
