Hi, Me and my family will spend a few days in NYC by the end of October. I'm just wondering if or where it is easy to spot a few American trains in the area. Thanks for your recommendations. Seb from Switzerland Envoyé de mon SM-G990B2 en utilisant Tapatalk
IIRC, New York has Grand Central, right? It is the world's largest station in terms of platforms, I think at whopping 44. [Most I have seen personally and in my country India is 23, I think].
Yeah, I've been at Grand Central. Nice building. Unfortunately, in term of commuter trains... my country feed my needs.. (have you already visited Switzerland by trains? ) I was mainly thinking of freight trains. Have a merry Xmas Envoyé de mon SM-G990B2 en utilisant Tapatalk
NYC isn't exactly a bastion of freight traffic. Freight moving from point A to point B, for example, never crosses the island. Chicago is another story. The New Jersey shore will probably be your best bet--Elizabeth or Jersey City. But be careful. Maybe should stick to daylight, and don't take the Mrs.
Only seen Switzerland in films. The impressive vistas there has imprinted their marks on filmmakers here from as early as 1964. Also, nearly all of rail travel there is electrified, I think, right? How's the maximum speeds of the trains that go there? The maximum permissible speed for trains is rather low in my country with 160 kmph being the highest [that too on very few routes].
