I finally got around to visiting Barnetby to catch some freight action. Caught the 0705 train from my village, changed trains at Lincoln and arrived at Barnetby around 0850. My first visit here, and I was amazed at the amount of trackage, and all the wonderful semaphore signals! Pics tomorrow
Just got off the train in time to climb the footbridge to catch this short train hauled by 66085. [ September 28, 2005, 10:38 AM: Message edited by: Alan ]
Cross the bridge to watch it head towards Immingham. [ September 28, 2005, 10:39 AM: Message edited by: Alan ]
One of the reasons I paid a visit to Barnetby was to photograph the class 60's before they are all stored. The next three trains were all class 60 hauled Here is 60036 with a loaded iron ore for Scun-thorpe. (There is no hyphen in the place name, but the filter would not let me leave it out) [ September 28, 2005, 10:39 AM: Message edited by: Alan ]
Just beyond the signal gantries the line to Lincoln curves off to the left. The line straight on is to Brig, and a little further on the line to Scun thorpe curves away to the right. [ September 28, 2005, 10:40 AM: Message edited by: Alan ]
I was indeed lucky, as shortly afterwards two class 60 hauled trains approached side-by-side The one on the left is empty oil tanks from the Lincoln line and on the right is an empty iron ore train from Scunny. The curves of both lines can be clearly seen. [ September 28, 2005, 10:40 AM: Message edited by: Alan ]
As the iron ore empties was stopping at the next signal, the tank train overtook. [ September 28, 2005, 10:41 AM: Message edited by: Alan ]
Behind the tank train, the iron ore empties arrived behind 60061 still in Transrail paint. [ September 28, 2005, 10:42 AM: Message edited by: Alan ]
