I fell in LOVE with these Hoppers as soon as I saw them, problem is I will never pay the $25.00+ that they go for, so.....I am going to take about 15 of my assorted cylindricals and paint them and apply the White decals from Micro Scale sheet # 60-5005. My question is, what color Red would ya'll use to get this color and sheen correct ? Also, besides the White BNSF Wedge decals what other Micro Scale sheet would be good for the warning, capacity and other call out labeling ? Oh, these Red's would look so good behind a consist of Blue & Yellow BNSF Patches. Just a dream train waiting to happen. fatalxsunrider43
Intermountain did a run of 4650s in 09 that looked real close to the MTs you desire (IM-67065). Wig-Wag had the IM cars for $16.47. George may still have a few in stock so it may be worth a call. Brian
I'd start with a oxide red or oxide brown and adjust it to match. That's just my guess. Whatever you do, make enough for the whole fleet or remember your formula if you end up mixing paint.
JJ as long as they are Red just as the Red in the picture of the MTL car. I'll probably try to paint what I have as I am trying to save up funds for GP-60's. fatalxsunrider43
That is Mineral Brown paint and tThose are Centerflow Hoppers not cylindrical hoppers. Here is a cylindrical:
If you want to get technical... a Centerflow is a cylindrical hopper, so is a Trinity 5161, etc, etc...
Intermountain just released another run of the Trinity 5161's in the BNSF wedge in twelve road numbers. MSRP is $21.95, so it shouldn't be too hard to get them for under $18 each. Unless you really want to paint and decal all those hoppers.
