My modules are freelance, but I was looking for some info as to make it a certain time period and the like. I'm planning on mostly BN stuff, kind of a northwest theme in the early 80's ( i grew up in kelso, WA with the BN tracks out our front door so that's why) andy websites would be helpful, as well as any knowledge that could be shared here. It doesnt have to strickly be northwest. A couple of questions are:

1- locomotive power? for mainline, switch, locals

2-industries, rolling stock. Can i run stock cars and move cattle or was that gone before the 80's

i have a freighthouse, a track that righrt now I call an interchange so i can park anything there, what is the definition of a team track? I'll have the interstate fuel and oil as well.

thanks for the time and your help.

    Hi Wayne,

As far as #2 goes, cattle movements had pretty much ceased in the 1960s I believe. That being said, I've sure seen a lot of photos of stock cars hanging around later than that, so maybe they were used somewhat, somewhere? I run them on my 1972 and just pretend it's still going on.

Team tracks are pretty much just tracks to put most anything on. Typically flats and other types of cars with large loads, big equipment, etc. is unloaded there, where you can get forklifts and bigger unloading equipment near the rails. It's a great excuse to do whatever you want! In older times they sometimes had wooden docks, later ones were concrete. I spotted an old concrete one just the other day.

Thanks Steve. I kinda figured they were done before then, and I'm by no means being stricked to prototype. Just running some BN GPs and maybe an SD40-2 with some opperation and I happen to have five stock cars (not sure why, couple in a train set, couple "hand me across' " and the like.

Again thanks steve for the quick response

    Hey Wayne...

I freelance too. So my theory is... "My Railroad gets whatever I give it".

If ya got the cattle cars and ya wanna make cattle corrals and have a cattle loading ramps with modern locos...go for it.

Have fun...it's yours and no one elses.. ;-)
