My scanners are old. So I might not be a big help. What model number? Do you know the frequencies or desired companies?

    HTH

lost my old one recently, bought a new one at radio shack

had like 150 preprogrammed frequencies for fire, police, etc

i ended up programming these to ZERO frequency to keep the scan time down.. if not, the scanner will take almost 30 seconds (by my watch) just to scan those freqs

it doesn't really matter what bank/channel you program the RR freqs.. but get rid of all the preprogrammed ones

    YMMV
