Should I Delete Pictures?

I upload lots of pictures-- usually at least once a week for weekend sharing, etc. and often to answer questions, give pictorial information. I don't think I have burned out your servers, but I wonder about pictures I may or may not want to link to.

For YOUR convenience and usage of your servers, etc., is it better to delete a picture after it has been up for several weeks and I think it has served its purpose, but I MAY want to put it back up at a later date?

By the way, I leave up a bunch of pictures and graphics re the design of my layout, and a bunch for a long, long pictorial essay on "Texas Seacoast Railroading" that I think is an ongoing resource for modelers. Any problem with that?

Thanks. You all do a great job.

Personally, I hate finding an older post where the photos no longer load.

I was wondering the same thing.

From my perspective, should I delete the pictures and some one does a search going back to look at that thread the picture would be missing. There goes the proof and documentation.

Still, I keep thinking at some point the thread and pictures would be deleted as the memory banks fill-up.

This is the problem which results.

Messages and topics are archived. When pictures are removed, then anyone who later explores for information, such as newer members, comes upon the dreaded "red X" and is unable to decipher what was being discussed.

If you can leave the photos up, that is best. If ever it comes to a point where space is running low, we'd let everyone know. Best thing to do, in order to help, is simply to keep size down whenever possible. A good idea is in the neighborhood of 100kb, or less.

Forum admins can put a limit on the upload size, anybody trying to upload a larger file would be rejected.

There is a limit. However, we have it set higher, for those occasions when a really sharp, high res picture is helpful. What I am suggesting, is just a voluntary aid, as most photos are quite adequate at much reduced size. We aren't concerned at this time about running short on our capacity.

Just what I wanted: to smear boogurs on my wheels !!

WELL THE LAUGH IS ON ME FELLOWS!!!

It seems to be an ideal replacement for traction tires when you need them.

    Watash,

Sorry, I just got back to this thread to see what was happening.

Sounds like you got your answer.

    Snot it's not.

A superb product and ideal replacement to those worn out traction tires. I have three locomotives that are back in operation thanks to this odd product.

There any way to delete entire albums without having to go in and delete each photo 1-by-1?

    Maybe there still is....

Only an Administrator, ( or maybe the Moderator of the Forum) it was in, had the power to remove a whole album. As I Recall they didn't delete them, they were just not able to be viewed by the public and the members. I am guessing... We still have archives yet, see?
