Did you ever just take a pic of empty track? Maybe you like the "vanishing point" lines or just a mood it sets: Looking East on the Needham line just west of Belavue Station Crossed the street. Now looking West I really liked this pic. I'll print and mount it some day. (cross posted bridge pic to "Bridge" thread. [ January 23, 2006, 12:11 PM: Message edited by: Grey One ]
Are those houses at the left side? They'd have quite a view of trains. I wonder if they're owned by any railfans? Boxcab E50
Unfortunately it is only commuter rail these days. . I at least get to watch Metroliner and Acela go past.
And off we go towards Gulfport, MS station about five miles straight down the track in the mist. Just so y'all know, this photo was taken before Katrina. That's why I feel it belongs in this thread. Those leaves and trees were here a "minute" ago, and they will be back!!!!
Southern RR in Selma, NC (Raleigh to Goldsboro) looking towards Goldsboro. Russell, I hope you won some kind of award with that first picture. You should have won something! BTW, most of these photos are great ballast pictures. There is a thread on that somewhere. [ January 25, 2006, 07:11 AM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
Thanks guys. I use the first one for my computer screen background wallpaper. It was taken near Katy, Texas on the MKT about 1975. The second was in the Connecticut River Valley just North of Colebrook, New Hampshire in 1969.
