Red Rock Country is generally considered to include the Monument Valley and environs in the 4-corners area, as well as the more populated (and touristy) area around Sedona, AZ http://www.sedonawebcam.com/. Visually stunning, lots to do, and GREAT food! To top it off, the Verde Canyon Railroad is nearby! http://www.verdecanyonrr.com/

Then there's Uluru down in Oz...

    Dave:

Actually I started on the fourth addition to the JJJ&E last November. Pete Nolan saw the beginning stages when he visited last February.

Alan(Wiking) saw the JJJ&E when he came by for a visit last April.

So the addition was well underway when I was suddenly detoured for awhile.

    Bob,

I am glad that you are back to working on the addition. Spending the day with you was a memory I still think about. This December I am riding on the lounge car that appears in cameo in the film Flag of our Fathers. You can read and see pictures at www.overlandtrail.com

    Alan:

You can see some photo's of the addition on my TB Train Blog or in Album # 13 in Rail Images. I've positioned many lasercut buildings on the addition as well as some retaining walls.

Perhaps we'll do it again some time. We have a rained out ball game to make up.

Have fun on the lounge car.:)

 I have to say it's good to see a comeback from this near disaster. I know it was disheartening when it happened, I'm just glad you decided to continue and not throw in the towel. Being that I grew up in the red rock country of northern Arizona I can relate to the lasting impressions it leaves in ones mind. The red sandstone is an interesting geological feature that clearly indicates a southwest location.
