Anybody ever use rubber cement (the viscous stuff at the office supply store that you apply with a brush) to secure track to cork roadbed? I assume it would attack extruded foam but might be good for holding down track on cork until the final alignments are figured out.

I know the fumes are are not good.

    Hi

My experience is that glues are more permanent then one would like. I use sewing pins with the round plastic tops to hold track to the cork. Not perfect but works if you use enough of them.

    good luck

How about just using the pretty much standard latex caulk? A strip down the center of the cork, spread to thin layer, place track on top, weight down track. If you need to lift it again, work a knife under track and wiggle.

Rubber Cement contains solvent. If you're not careful, it might melt your ties or even foam base. I second clear latex acrylic caulk, like Polyseamseal All-Purpose. You can find those at any Home Depot for around $3+. Can't lose with that.

Nothing wrong w/ good old track nails in cork if it's just temporary.

Here's a 3rd for cheap clear latex caulk. It can be permanent if desired or track can be lifted off with a long utility knife without excessive trouble. You will have to pick off some residue from the bottom of the ties but track comes up without any damage.
