We are asking if the Z Scale forum members are interested in TrainBoard forum cars such as have been offered in N Scale.

If so, would it be boxcars, hoppers, motive power...?

    What are your thoughts?

We ask the Z Scalers only vote. In other words, if you are an N Scaler we don't need to know that you are not interested in a Z Scale car.

Well, Since the N Scale car is a hopper, a Z Scale hopper would be cool, but we don't have Centerflow hoppers yet. Maybe a PS2.

I'm interested BUT not just another car. Maybe a special car built by one of the members or an "ordinary" car from some manufacturer that has been really modified. IOW something really special.

I think we might be limited by what is available. We have one staff member (Mike) that single-handedly made the N Scale project happen.

If some of you fellows have ideas or are willing to help make this happen, then please let us know what is possible. :)

I would be interested in a Trainboard car. That would be a nice way to support the Trainboard forum that has given me so much pleasure the last years.

US-Style, with MTL couplers and a cool boxcar theme is okay. Buy I do not want to bid on it, just one fixed price for everyone. I don't like the biding part just to se that I lost the bid in the end on something that I rely want but couldn't afford in the end, because off some jerk that always bid over me. I just want to know what to pay and that's it !

I second this Torsja. A fix price is fair!

I can understand that but you have to realize that funding the site is the goal and there have been a few people that have bid to extremes in the past just to support the site so we try to get as much as possible on some of these things. However, that does not mean that we would not try to also come up with something else at a fixed price.

Why not make some cars to sell at a fixed price and a few others in a different color or number to auction off ? Toby

    Just a thought....

What if you had members sign up for an event (the event would be closed to anyone who did not donate) and have these folks donate one car each. Then hold an auction on those cars only, and only allow each participating doner to win one car/auction. This way everyone gets a car, and the site collects all the funds generated from the auction.

Think about it...... If you donated a car, you could always "high" bid it and get it right back, but you would be contributing to the site at the same time.

Even if you were out bid on your car, or some other car that you liked, you would be garanteed to win at least one car no matter what.

It's sort of like a "car swap" but you bib on each others cars to create funds for the site.

An upside to this would be that there would be some really cool cars put up by some of our expert modelers, as well as some commercally available cars.

The commercial cars would most likely sell for "@ or below" their retail value, but it would'nt matter.....the money would go to the site, and the person who donated the car would still wind up with another car of some sort.

To make it work out so everyone gets a car is simple. The auction for the items would all expire at the same time and date, and the hightest valued item would be awarded first, followed by the next highest and on down to the lowest bid on item. Each time an item is awarded to the winner, that persons other bids on items are automatically dropped out of the running for those other items...... So even if one guy had the highest bid on all the auctioned cars, he would only win the most expensive one..... Who ever was the next highest bidder on the second item would get the item!!!!

Pretty cool and simple......the other fun part is that un-like Ebay or regular autions, the bidding prices are not truely the price that the car will eventually go for. Plus each bidder can set his/hers comfortable bid price for each item and just sit back and see what happens, and no matter what they will definatly win one auction.

    Just an Idea....

I agree with Torsja: US-style box car, with MTL couplers and one fixed price for everyone.

    Moin, moin,

    I also agree with them.
No sitting in the night for biding for a car in Europe.

I'd pay for a car like this! It could be part of a subscription to Trainboard.com. Micro-trains just came out with the new boxcar with no roof walks on it, that would be a good boxcar. White, with orange and grey graphics, and the Lego lookin' engineer dude, on the sides. That's my 2 cents.
