To those who have to clean their track often what do you run on DCC or DC. If DC what is your power supply, an MRC pack or filtered DC?

I've had much better luck with keeping the track clean since I took off all the old cars and paid some attention to cleaning their wheels. I thought I had done this before putting them away--well, I had done a pretty lousy job, probably in haste since I needed to empty the room.

I cleaned the last time with 91% isopropyl alcohol--it seems to do a better job than the ordinary 70% stuff, and evaporates very quickly.

The only places where I have any trouble now are the places where I have "rumbly" track. I know the cause--there's a bit of glue or ballast that I haven't cleaned up yet. The rumbly track is, of course, at places that are hard to reach, but I'm going to wait on them until a minor back ache goes away. The rumblies indicate that the wheels are jumping along the track, which probably causes some arching.

Very good tip on the cork, Rob. I think I'll replace masonite pads with cork ones the next time I feel a run is needed.
