Caught a pair of bonnets still called to the point last Friday. Also, good to see the class loco of the old 600 series Dash Nines still surviving!
Some nice shooting there. Only wish BNSF had kept up on the paint jobs. It won't be long and these dino's will be gone. Shoot them while you can.
I just spotted a 600 number warbonet just as we departed grand junction aboard the California Zephyr.
You mean like these two I found in Commerce? At least the GP06Ms were in a little better shape, even if they do say BNSF instead of Santa Fe.
The Paint isn't BNSF's Fault. It's GE's and GE's contractor's fault. EMD on the other hand, used paint that didn't suck and so the GP60Ms still look fine.
Up here in Western Washington, we regularly see sets of Warbonnet SD60m's on the Roosevelt garbage trains since they got rid of the Geep's.
I was wondering why the paint was so beat up on the GE locomotives. The EMD locomotives looked good for a long time and the paint held up well although they did have a couple of troublesome models, but so did GE. EMD locomotives Rule, the GP-9 was industructible and you still see them in service today, thats a hard record for GE to break.
Oops, ya'! I'd get a pic of one, but everytime I see a good lash-up of them, it's dark or poring down rain!!
I caught this bad boy on the point on the joint BNSF/UP main headed north through Denver a couple of weeks ago. She was leading a nice mixed power consist too.
Didn't see the road numbers; but, likely the same pair I saw later this week north bound crossing over C-470 as I was heading to work. :tb-cool: :tb-cool: :tb-cool: :tb-cool:
