I'm looking for some modern industries. Mainly Lumber, Grain and Cement plants. I have searched websites and I did find one, The Long Valley Lumber Company kit, but it seems to be 50's era? The grain elevators seem to be pretty old too. I was looking at cutting down a N scale kit. Does nobody make modern plants?
Eddy, you may find some stuff from Searail useful. http://www.searails.com/scalemodels/cityflats.html
There's not areally "a lot" of industry available in modern or transition era. A couple of good things for modern era modellers, though. One is that modern facilities are relatively easy to kitbash and or scratch build. Not quite as much "artsy craftsyness" to the buildings and nice smoothe modern building materials. The other is that there a still a lot of older facilities still in operation. A few replacement windows, an addition here or there, and you have a "modern" facility. Dan S.
That is what I'm looking for. Even if it's OOP, who made it? I guess I'll try scratch building something. Thanks for your help.
Eddie, I dont know the name of the manufacturer. It was made by a Canadian company. Maybe Joe S. can remember the name. He has the same grain elevator in his layout.
I believe it was microfigs out of Canada. I think that I might actually have one of these around here somewhere. I'll probably never use it. If you are interested, I can try finding it. Dan S.
Eddie, I got them from Allan Borg. I dont know if he still making them. He used to me a regular member during our z scale chat sessions, but I haven't talk to him in a while. You can send him a PM. TrainBoard.com
Eddie, Here's a couple of pictures of the kit. Not real pretty, but a lot of potential. I'll PM you with details. Dan S.
Eddie that grain elevator was indeed from Microfigs out of canada and they are no longer in operation. The kit is actually a tad small for Z if you can beleive it, however it is difficult to notice. Here is a picuture of mine in the early stages of my layout. url=http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showphoto.php/photo/74725][/url]
