BNSF, Thats crazy man! In my parts catalog to order replacememnt parts their is a description of the part along with the color and their is no number showing or a description for a gray Big Boy boiler or a drive train frame!!!! All it shows is the following: PART NO. DESCRIPTION CAB NUMBER P-245-081--Black with Graphite----#4013 P-245-081*-All Gold Body----------#4019* P-245-002--All Black Body---------#4005 R26755-----Black with Graphite----#4004 R26756-----All Black Body---------#4002 R26757-----Black with Graphite----#4006 R26758-----All black Body---------#4004 R26759-----Black with Graphite----#4002 R26760-----All Black Body---------#4006 This is the listing I have for the Earliest Rivarossi Big Boys to the Latest Big Boys... Prices are as follows: P-245-002 is $50.70-All Black Body P-245-081 is $60.36-Black and Graphite P-245-081* is $70.98-All Gold body* The new "R" class parts numbers are unknown being this was the Model Expo version compared to the AHM "P"class parts numbers. The Model Expo parts are higher in price then the AHM version. I'm working on geting Model Expo prices as for a back date just for the comparison of the 2. Not being able to order from Model Expo but just to have the added leaf of the Model Expo prices. [ 22 June 2001: Message edited by: 7600EM_1 ] [ 22 June 2001: Message edited by: 7600EM_1 ]
EM1: Try looking for part no. R02-5415 This seems to be the number that I have found goes with the Gray Big Boy. Apparently it is more common in Europe than the USA. Wonder if it was only for that market? Here are the numbers I found: Ord. Nos. R02-5415 Gray R02-5440 Graphite & Black w/ Decoder Installed: R02-54398 Black R02-54408 Graphite & Black R02-54418 Silver & Black
BNSF, That could be true, being its not known in the US and not in my catalog I bet is was a spcial loco for european market!! I bet money it is.... Thats why its so strange to all of us here on the board!!! I bet it wasn't ment to get to the US shores, thats why its not listed in parts of my catalog.. It sure does seem weird and alittle funny why would they want a loco over their that never existed? Hmmmmm... [ 23 June 2001: Message edited by: 7600EM_1 ]
EM1 Check this out. I found this at Mr. Bennett's art sight. Is this any closer to the color EM1 you are looking for? This guys site is very nice for Railroad artwork. Has a nice book for sale too. [ 24 June 2001: Message edited by: bnsf4354 ]
BNSF, OH MY GOD...Where in blazing hell did you find that????? Now thats art work my friend! HA! Oh while i'm thinking about it (before it slips my mind again ) Remember that sight you posted for me with all the thumbnails of the EM-1's ???? How do I enlarge the pictures? It won't allow me to click the thumbnails to get a bigger picture!!!! Their are a few I'd love to see a full size picture of on that site........ Let me know... Also in your posting pictures, you see how your picture is right on screen without a link to go to it, how do i do that???? I been trying to get mine that I post to do the same thing but I just can't figure it out... Let me know your secret on posting pictures right in the forum page without a link.... [ 24 June 2001: Message edited by: 7600EM_1 ]
John you have to put your photo into your ftp folder before you can post it here. Did you find out yet? Here is how you would do it, (you will have to fill in the blanks I have marked xxx). You type: Remember, leave NO spaces at all, and your EM-1 will show up on here like this: [ 24 June 2001: Message edited by: watash ]
As far as picture posting goes---if it is a photo from the web just click it to the largest size you want and then right click and select properties and then highlight and copy the url. Then just paste it into the UBB code area. If it is your own photo that isn't on the web use a different approach. I don't have a website to post from so I can't post my own. IS that EM1 the color you want? I'll keep looking if not. As far as the other site I can't get the other pictures to enlarge either for some reason. Maybe you can email that sight and ask some questions about what they have. Looks like they may have one or two that might be what you are looking for with the EM1 in color.
Watash, Whats a ftp folder???? Is that a folder here on the board for pictures??? And URL's? I went an got an acount with photopoint.com and was using it to link my pictures to the board, but to do what you done with my EM-1 Watash, i'm still lost... HA! I'll get the hang of it sooner or lattter, I just need to figure out what folder your talking about and I have none I'll have to get one... THANKS guys.......
EM1: When you go to photopoint for you picture can you click on it an make it larger? Like supersizing a thumbnail? If so, just enlarge it and then right click on the photo. A little menu should come up with the last option being "properties". Select that and where it says URL and the address just highlight the address and then copy it by right clicking after highlighting and selecting copy. THan you can come here and down below this message box you will see the "Instant UBB Code" options. Click on "Image" and then right click and select paste to put your photo in the area provided. Then post your reply and the image should come up like mine do. Hope it works for you. I am going to try and find your image and repost it to see if it works for me---OK? Good luck.
Ok, lets see if they post for me. Yep sure enough they posted fine. I pulled up your picture from photopoint and used the process I stated in the last message and then I went to the photo Watash posted in his message and did the same thing with his. They both posted so that means it should work fine for you too! If you do it this way you don't have to worry about ftp folders and you won't have to type a thing. Just copying and pasting! I don't mean to offend any other way of posting--I just found this to be easiest for me. [ 25 June 2001: Message edited by: bnsf4354 ]
Hey fellas! Nice pictures of the trains, especially yours 7600EM-1 !! I have a all black Riv Big Boy and I modified a new coupler to the existing "push-pull" coupler the the company supplied. I simply got a coupler from one of my older train sets and actually superglued the sucker on the "push-pull" one, and last night I was watching the History Channel and they said that a square inch of superglue can hold about a ton. WOW! Imagine a little train that can pull the family car, only if HO had strong enough motors and wheels.
UP Big Boy, Those loco's are far from the only ones! Anyway they are both customized, the one above your post was built from an existing Rivarossi Big Boy, and the other was built from an existing UP Challenger. The Big Boy is now the EM-1 I talked about, and the Challenger is now a Western Maryland M-2 Challenger... Alot of work, but worth it in the end..... They both run good but the Big Boy is as old as dirt!! It does get warm and slows down but it has yet to stall on me or stop altogether!!!! But being it was manufactured in 1960.. I guess it has a right to at that age The Challenger was manufactured in 1972 and runs great.... so.... He'll be well taken care of and as soon as I find a motor to fit in the EM-1 (Ex. Big Boy) he will run just as good too if not better.... [ 26 June 2001: Message edited by: 7600EM_1 ]
Will, Thinking about it, I done all my front couplers with Kadee's... And all work side to side motion by modifying the front just slightly to acomadate the coupler draft gear boxes and used 2-56 thread screws to secure it to the pilot deck. Then and went to paint any existing siler metal (the screw) and the shiny black draft gear box to make it blend in with the rest of the loco's flat black paint.... And its strong too I had coupled like 3 loco's in the front of the EM-1 and 2 behind it plus the train itself..... And not a problem with coupling them or durring run time..... I'm not sure but, look at the front of my EM-1 picture above... It shows the pilot deck in the front and compare it to your Big Boy... Alot different, and alot of work to get that look of the real EM-1's! But worth it.. [ 27 June 2001: Message edited by: 7600EM_1 ]
