I would like to add signs to my layout, but I have a hard time finding ones that I want. I see a lot of signs in epray, but they are just not the right ones. Finding signs for industries are the hardest to find, and I dont want to spend time making my own. For street signs, I found a kid that makes some really good looking ones. Here is some of his work. This sign is from Miller engineering kits, but I bought it in ebay assemble. This sign I made it with a label maker. What I like to see is where and how do you get your signs. If you make it yourself, show us how you do it.
I leach all my signs off the web, then shrink them in Corel Draw, and print them out on one of my color laser printers. Many are free, some are no. I avoid the not free ones, and searching google images often finds an alternative. There are many places that sell signs, real ones, on the web. They usually have pictures of them, so use their click to enlarge feature if they have it, then CTRL+Print Screen, and paste into your favorite paint program. Do a bit of touchup, crop, and save! Now just import into Corel and resize as appropriate, without any loss of image information, and print out a sheet of them for a lifetime supply. If you modify it 70%, (I don't know how to quantify that 70%), it is considered your own artwork. If you group a whole bunch of those signs into one small sheet, maybe that is considered your own art.. a collage? I don't know, but most of those guys who call their pictures copywrited, are copwriting photos they took of someone elses copywrited artwork, like tin coke signs, or john deere tractor signs, etc. I bet they only have permission to do 1 in 100 of the pictures they leach, if that.
