So over the weekend I went to look at a layout that was for sale. The price was right, but the layout wouldn’t fit with what I wanted to do so I turned it down. Well my son was curious as to where I went and I told him, he asked if it was nice and what not, and I said it wasn’t bad, it has potential. He asked to see it and then asked if we could buy it to flip. Well it will need a bit of work to be profitable but I think we can do it! So we bought it. Now I’m gonna fix it up a little bit. The wiring needs help, and I’m going to make it look a bit better and less like styrofoam. Does anyone recognize what layout it is? Next up is a loco that came with the layout. We are planning on selling it, it’s a Kato BC Rail SD40-2 DC model. DCC can be added. Here is my new passenger train. It’s a Japanese model type 205 that is decorated for Kato. I got a couple of these cars from PnP trains but not the power car, so not I have a couple extras to add.

I would like to have one of those for a really, really, good deal, like I am sure you got! Always liked the Woodland Scenics N Scale Scenic Ridge, but don't think I would ever buy a new kit? Guessing you got a great deal?
I wouldn’t say great deal, but well enough to make a few dollars. I’m going to make a new stand for it, that should improve my odds of making a profit.
Nice find! Lots of options, from simple TLC to more significant alterations! Scenic Ridge is a good, compact example of a classic, folded dogbone style layout. It also provides a nice balance between mountainous terrain and town/industrial scenery. I always thought the tracks around the right end should be pulled together for a true double-track section, which then allows for crossovers to create a passing siding and reverse-direction running, with appropriate electrical controls. Although, such would complicate operating as a DC layout (necessitating block controls). DCC operation would simply require an auto-reverser. I also think that the area at left would make a better cattle ranching, lumber or mining scene, rather than a small factory/freight scene as WS suggests.
Got in an order of more 1/4" balsa square dowel and 1.5mm basswood ply so as soon as the motivation hits me I can get back to my scratch buildings.
Some shells for a small project I'm working on arrived from China Usually unobtainium in N scale. FM H12-44TS
Which railroads used these Fairbanks Morse version? Did they come with the railings and other details? What chassis would be appropriate?
RailSmith Sleepers for the 1947 NP North Coast Limited. Very nice models filling a void in my hobby plans. I actually bought 4, but they all look the same so only one image needed. Stay safe,
As far as I know it was just Santa Fe, the mechanism from an Atlas FM H16-44 will fit. (trucks won't be correct - I'm working on that) FYI these aren't widely available, I used a Chinese company to print them. Wiki entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FM_H-12-44TS
I got my set of three 1947 Mainstreeter duplex sleeper versions (Walla Walla, Missoula & Helena) together with an A/B set of F3 units by BLI. I already have the F5 unit released several months ago... so now I have the A/B/A set. I have a spare powered B unit so that all 3 units will have DCC/Sound. Last month I got a pair of the Lowey two toned green duplex sleepers as well. These duplex sleepers are prototypical for Northern Pacific.
Haven't purchased yet, but I saw this Deluxe Innovations Gunderson "Twinstack" for $60....is is a good deal?
FINALLY received 2 coaches and 3 sleepers in CRIP from Lowell Smith. Order got screwed up somehow, but Lowell made good on it. BEAUTIFUL CARS !!! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL !!! These DEFINITELY deserve Boxcab's dancing banana !!!
2 new trams. These are Piccolo and Piccola from Kato. They are the same body as the MyTrams that Kato brought to the US, and are an actual Japanese prototype. I have one on my tram layout right now they run as good as one would expect from Kato.
