Tim, You made a beautiful kit out of the creation of David. Hopefully a lot of people show their finished locomotives in this thread. :fingers-crossed:
Near 50 ACes out there!!! Their are almost 50 SD70ACes out there. I have the official list, but that doesn't mean they will all be displayed when finished. I do know that several modelers plan on doing the UP Heritage schemes. One plans on an Aussie scheme and I plan on all BNSF Swoosh's!!!! I do hope someone makes the MRL as that will be a kicka$$ scheme. The only scheme I do not really, personally care for is that of the KCS. It is ok, in an Eek Fashion!!!! Personally speaking that is. Maybe I'll dress one of my ACes up in the 4040 Bush scheme. I'd be compelled to find a way to get it to Daddy Bush in hopes I can turn him towards Z scale. Nah!!! BNSF Swoosh for me!!!! OK, who is next!! Tell all!!!!!! What schemes are you going to model????? Hobo Tim
Though I wont have one to paint up, if I did, I'd have to go with UP 1989. I might be kinda partial to that one.... Are the Phase V P42 + Superliners are available in Z to recreate this August 10th-11th 2009 California Zephyr?
Mark, there are no Genesis or Superliners in Z. The closest thing we have is a F59PHI and Surfliners.
LED Mod of AZL Board Thanks for the positive words on the ACe shells. Gonna be interesting seeing all the awesome paint schemes when they start rolling in!! John had asked me to post more on what I did to change the yellow LEDs on the AZL board to some bright yellow white LEDs. I have about 2000 different SMD LEDs from Kingbright. Many different sizes, from large to nano. Reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, purples, pinks, and so many whites. The one that I used is Kingbright #APT3216RWF/A it is 3.2 x 1.6mm White SMD LEDs. Not sure what they cost, but it is better to purchase $20/25 for shipping if I recall right. Here is a photo of the LEDs on the board. You leave the original LED leads and solder the SMD LED to them. Make sure you have the polarities correct or the LED will not shine. This is an easy mod to do!!! http://www.kingbrightusa.com is the website. Register as a user to see the prices and to order. Quick and easy. Enjoy! Hobo Tim
Henrik, will you join us on the ZMOD show in Drammen, Norway, next month? And show us the model? http://www.zmod.no/
Could you also post the direct link here for us? (Not only to help TrainBoard members find the auction, but eBay pays TrainBoard commission when members click links to eBay and make bids.)
Hi Joe! I have not done too much lately.. Got 2 jobs now, so the time i got left is used for social activities and drums. But this shell gave me a boost to ZZZZeee things straight again! Hope to be more active here on the board again too!
SD7)ACe on Ebay I just posted the SD70ACe on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290468872108 Good Luck!! Hobo Tim
All right. Im confessing. I bought it. For the price it was worth it. Hein, I need a paint job. I understand you are doing the "swoosh" BNSF also. How about one more for me? And the decals - Robert?
All of mine are going into UP Yellow. I love my BNSF, but I only see one or two SD70ACe in BNSF colors a year, while every UP train I see has one or two.
For the price you got it compared to my prediction of the price a sole auction would have put it, I think you saved over 300% on this one. But hey, it's done and gone now, and I'm glad you purchased it. Just be sure to share pictures and videos!!
Hmmmmmmm You can't do this one!!! The cab is wrong!!!! Note the placement of the headlights. But, you are in luck!!!! BNSF has ACes with the headlights between the number boards. Just not this one!!!! Man that is a beautiful loco though!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hobo Tim
