Deep in old Frisco territory- I see a blue flag. Is that an engine house behind? Does BNSF operate any further south these days? Boxcab E50
Good eye. Yes, that is the fuel rack at the BNSF terminal in Birningham. Yes, this is as far into the southeast BNSF still runs.
Just think what might have been, had the Frisco been able to keep control of the Central Of Georgia. They could be a true transcontinental. Considering rail hauled container traffic today, they'd really be sitting pretty! Boxcab E50
Birmingham AL on the CSX - 2003 Don't you just hate it when those telephone poles jump into your shot.
Actually its a rebuilt SD40. It was upgraded to Dash-2 standards by Alsthom in Canada. This is an old CN unit notice the snow shield behind the cab. It was built as CN 5056 in 1968.. BNSF 7332 was renumbered to BNSF 6992.
