I believe it's another unintended consequence of Corporate Downsizing. But it must get terrific fuel economy, doesn't need those big tanks.
Ha. I saw this on e-bay yesterday. Same concept but done with a coal car. Now I'm envisioning a whole little layout of "half-lings" running around. Oh the possibilities! I wonder what a Shorty-shorty tank car would look like!
And if we do the miniliner, we gotta do the F20PH! This is just too fun! Somebody stop me before I become obsessed!
Sorry, cant do that LOL. Hmmmm lets see, how about an mini auto rack (articulated)? Or an mini caboose?
Ok, last one! The California "Halpheyr"!! Who said you need a big layout to model passenger service?!
In the spirit of things I thought I would try one. It is still a little big but for my first try (photo editing)...
Sorry, we kinda got off topic and I forgot to answer your question. Like I said, it's hard to find these guys in stock, but here are some places who carry/have carried them. Wig-Wag BLW And also e-bay from time to time but they run a bit higher than MSRP (like the one linked) because of the demand. And some other interesting applications/creations. http://www.teamsavage.com/ncat/Kato_shorty_B.html If someone knows more about these, I also have a question. I've heard Kato has used both a 3v and 12v motor in these guys. How do you tell which motor you have? Here's a picture I posted on pg2 if it helps.
