Hello Hien I was curious about how you remove the panel from the sd70m-2 kit that you replaced with the the 3 panel detail and what sandpaper was used so you won't remove the other details of the sd70ace bodyshell. Anthony G.
Tin wow man another display of your Fantastic modeling skills; thanks for sharing:thumbs_up::thumbs_up:
Brilliant work! In addition to the detail work, your paint jobs are fantastic. What can you tell us about painting? What brand paint? What specs do you use to apply it (eg. psi, distance from airbrush to model, etc.) Thanks for any info you're willing to share. -Gary
Anthony, I used x-acto #17 flat to remove stock panel. Sandpaper will damage the body shell's details. Hien
Beautiful work Hien. How much of the detail kit is used on the standard SD70ACe? Any chance of Pat doing a future product with just the parts for the SD70ACe that could be sold at a cheaper price?
I just spoke with Pat last pass weekend that SD70ACe kit (fans and sun shades) will be a future release, we will post when it available. Regards, Hien
Just finished up these custom order, using same details kit. It is late now, I need to get up early for daytime job. Hien
Hien, Nice job on the KCS units. I just finished up a Southern Belle myself (posted a pic in another thread). On the handrail ends, did you end up utilizing the Microscale decal set to get the striping? That's one of the things I have left to do. Also, just for comparision sake what color red did you utilize? The decal sheet called for SOO Line red but I thought that ended up being too dark. I played around with Signal Red and came pretty close. You get some really crisp lines on the anti-glare panels on the top of the cab noses on your units (looking at the closeup on the BNSF one in particular). Any chance in maybe posting a pic of how you tape that off prior to paint? Thanks.
